Grappling refers to techniques used to control an opponent without using strikes. Example of grappling techniques include joint locks, takedowns, throws, pins, and chokes. Some martial arts styles, such as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Judo, focus exclusively on grappling, while many other styles incorporate it along with striking techniques, such as Jujutsu, Hapkido, and Sambo.
